The Art of Alessia Iannetti
Alessia Iannetti was born in Carrara (Italy) in 1985 and graduated at the Accademy of Fine Arts where she had the opportunity to study with the famous Artist and Professor Omar Galliani from whom she inherited the complex graphite on board thechnique as “Estigmate” of the most faschinating contemporary illustration, with its cinematographic views and close ups made of blacks and whites and infinite variations of gray, that give back to the monochrome and the drawing the excellence of intensity.
As a reply to modern conceptual lenguage, no more so deeply contemporary, Alessia Iannetti, already placed between the most interesting artists from New Pop and New Surrealism international scene, offers a highcultured Art, which is aware of its figurative turn and proudly follows the onirical and surrealistic aspects of Neoclassicism movement.
As a queen of the darkness and of the most intense Must of Noir, Alessia Iannetti chooses to seduce not by using fear or anxiety, but by pushing our look through a different intimate dimension, where rational codes are upside down as in dreams and so silence talks about the delicate flight of the butterflyes and about the hidden beating heart occupied by all the colors of beauty, which is now ready to implode in order to let colors spread out.
Her Artworks are penetrated by a nocturnal mysticism, inspired by the obscure tunes of the Dark anglosaxon culture (the Artist referes to it by using the same titles of authors such as Smashing Pumpkins, Joy Division, The Cure, Hole...) but they suggest a kind of extremely elaborated “Theme of Shadow” that carries inside both the sublime Art Nouveau Style of V. Corcos, D. G. Rossetti and F. Khnopff masterpieces and the hipnotical, romantic and dusty code of Margaret Cameron’s, Lady Hardawen’s and even Lewis Carroll’s photography, marking the accent on the natural solemnity of the characters.
In this way her models are called to represent fragile girls on the boundary between mythology and everyday life and they are submerged in the leaves of gray woods which led the artist to manipulate their light and shadows as in the legendary Cameron’s “Glass House”. While the misterious and souspended atmospheres, where the girls are immaginated, are so evocative that are able to cause a mystic illusion that makes us hear their whispers and swishes, reminding J. Lindsay’s literature and in particular the great masterpiece by P. Weir “Picnic at Hanging Rock”.
